Gas, electric radiant, induction, downdraft and modular cooktops: tell us what the appliance is doing and Appliance Crew will diagnose the problem, explain what we find and provide the repair price before work begins.
If you smell gas, do not touch switches, appliances, or your phone indoors. Leave the house, then call 911 and your gas utility from outside. If the flame appearance remains unusual for your appliance or fuel type, stop using the affected burner and arrange service. If a carbon monoxide alarm activates or you believe there may be an immediate gas or fire hazard, leave the area and contact 911 and/or the gas utility from a safe location. Once the property is safe, call 561.933.9955.
Choose the symptom that sounds closest to what you’re seeing. We’ll show you useful things to check and when professional cooktop service may be appropriate.
Flame appearance can provide useful information, but color alone cannot diagnose a gas cooktop problem. Select the flame that looks closest to yours for general guidance.
A healthy natural gas flame is generally blue. An unusual or persistent flame color can have more than one cause, so it is guidance rather than a diagnosis. Propane burners normally look slightly different from natural gas, so tell us your fuel when you book. If you smell gas, a carbon monoxide alarm activates, or you believe there may be an immediate gas or fire hazard, leave the area and contact 911 and/or the gas utility from a safe location.
Cookware compatibility can sometimes be the reason an induction zone does not respond as expected, so it is worth checking before booking service.
If compatible cookware is being used and the cooktop still will not heat, the problem may require appliance diagnosis. Power supply, controls, internal electronics and other components can produce similar symptoms, so the failed component should not be assumed from the symptom alone.
Compatibility rules follow published manufacturer guidance from Whirlpool and GE Appliances. Exact minimum pan sizes vary by model, so check your owner manual for the final word.
Each type is serviced within our service scope. Cooktops built into a range are covered on oven, range & cooktop repair, and every category is listed under all repair services.
Cooktops combine appliance components with a finished countertop installation. Depending on the unit, that may include gas connections, high-amperage electrical power, induction electronics or integrated ventilation. Diagnosis matters, and so does working carefully around the surrounding stone, quartz, cabinetry and finished surfaces.
Gas-related and electrical cooktop service should include the safety checks appropriate to the appliance and the work being performed. On induction, checking cookware compatibility first can save an unnecessary repair.
