Microwave ovens contain high-voltage components that can remain hazardous even after the appliance is unplugged. Do not remove the outer cabinet or attempt internal electrical repairs yourself. Simple removable accessories such as a turntable plate may be replaced according to manufacturer instructions.

If the door, hinges, latch or seals are damaged, or if the microwave continues operating when the door is open, stop using the appliance until it can be properly evaluated. Call 561.933.9955.

Microwave Heating Performance Check

Is the microwave heating the way it used to?

A controlled water-heating check can provide a rough indication of heating performance, but a home test cannot identify which internal component is responsible for reduced heating. Use a microwave-safe container and handle heated water carefully. Do not overheat liquids.

How to run the test:
  1. Fill a microwave-safe measuring jug with cold tap water and note the exact volume.
  2. Stir, then take the starting temperature with a kitchen thermometer.
  3. Run the microwave on full power, uncovered, for the time you set above.
  4. Stir again straight away, then take the ending temperature. Subtract the two and enter the difference.

If heating performance is reduced

Reduced heating can have more than one possible cause. Internal microwave diagnosis involves high-voltage components and should not be attempted by opening the appliance cabinet.

This uses the water load method: watts equals 4.186 multiplied by the water mass in grams, multiplied by the temperature rise in degrees Celsius, divided by the seconds of heating. The formal laboratory version in IEC 60705 uses a controlled load and container, so a kitchen version reads lower than a laboratory measurement. This is an approximate household observation only.

Yes. Stop using the microwave if unexplained sparking or arcing continues. Once the appliance is cool and off, check only for an obvious removable cause such as inappropriate metal cookware or foil. If the cause is not obvious, arrange service rather than opening the cabinet.
