Material Problem, Regardless Of Length

The 35 foot baseline and the elbow deductions come from the International Residential Code, which sets the maximum developed length at 35 feet from the transition duct connection to the outlet, deducts 5 feet for each 90 degree bend and 2 feet 6 inches for each 45 degree bend, and requires smooth-interior metal duct 4 inches in diameter with any flexible transition duct kept under 8 feet and never concealed. Large-radius elbows deduct less than the figures used here, and the code permits a longer run only where the dryer manufacturer's installation instructions specifically allow it. Rebuilding or rerouting a duct run inside walls is a vent specialist's job, and we will tell you plainly if that is what yours needs.

Sometimes, but check the vent first, because a restricted duct causes this far more often than a failed heating element. A dryer dries by carrying moisture out on moving air, so if the air cannot leave, the clothes stay damp no matter how well the heater works. Run the vent check on this page. If the run is within the allowance and clear, then a heating element, thermostat, thermal fuse or moisture sensor becomes the likely answer and that is a straightforward repair.

A restricted vent traps heat inside the machine and lint is highly flammable, so the two problems compound each other. The code sets the maximum at 35 equivalent feet and deducts 5 feet for every 90 degree bend, which is why a run that measures 20 feet on a tape can be over the limit in practice. Foil and plastic flex duct make it worse and are not compliant.
Start with the free possibilities. A washer will refuse to spin if it cannot drain first, and it will refuse to spin at full speed if the load is unbalanced or the door lock is not confirming. Redistribute the load, check the drain hose is not kinked and the filter or coin trap is clear, and try again. If it still will not spin, the usual suspects are the drain pump, the door lock assembly, the drive belt, the motor control board or worn drum bearings.
Usually not broken, and very common in a humid climate. Front loaders seal tightly, and residue collects in the door gasket fold and the detergent drawer where it never fully dries. Wipe the gasket fold out after use, leave the door ajar between loads, use less detergent rather than more, and run a hot cleaning cycle monthly. If the smell persists after all that, or water is sitting somewhere it should not, there may be a drain or sump problem worth looking at.
Stop using it until it is sorted, because a machine that walks will eventually tear out its own supply hoses and flood the room. Check it is level on all four feet with the lock nuts tightened, and confirm the shipping bolts were removed if it was installed recently. If it is level and still walking, the suspension rods, shock absorbers, or counterweight mounts have worn, and on an older machine so may the drum bearings.
