Cellar temperature rising?

Keep unnecessary door openings to a minimum and note the current temperature, humidity and controller settings if available. If the cooling system is no longer maintaining the cellar's normal conditions, call 561.933.9955 and tell us it is a walk-in wine cellar cooling system.

Interactive Diagnosis

What is your cellar doing? Select the symptom.

Choose the symptom that sounds closest to what you are seeing. We will show you useful observations and when professional cellar-cooling service may be appropriate.

Cellar Conditions Analyzer

Two useful numbers. One part of the picture.

Temperature and relative humidity are useful indicators of cellar conditions, but they do not identify a failed component by themselves. Use the readings to describe what the cellar is doing and whether conditions appear stable or are changing.

Useful things to note

Many long-term wine storage systems are operated around the mid-50s degrees F with relative humidity commonly around 60 percent, but appropriate settings can vary by cellar, collection and equipment. Stability is important. These figures are general context, not a service threshold or a diagnosis.

    System Sizing Context Check

Could room conditions be affecting system performance?

Room size is only one part of wine-cellar cooling-system sizing. Insulation, glass, ambient temperature, construction materials, lighting, door use and other heat-load factors can also affect the required capacity.

Where to find the rating: it is usually on the data plate on the unit itself, or in the model number. If you cannot find it, tell us the model number when you book. This tool is a general planning aid, not a manufacturer sizing calculation or HVAC engineering analysis.

The factors above are general planning factors, not a manufacturer formula. Manufacturers, WhisperKOOL included, recommend a proper heat load calculation over any general estimate, and real heat load also includes lighting, door traffic and construction materials this tool does not ask about. Cellar Cooling System Types

Cellar cooling system types we work with.

System design and service requirements vary. Provide the manufacturer and model so Appliance Crew can confirm whether the equipment falls within our service scope before booking.

What We Do And What We Do Not

We repair cellar cooling. We do not build cellars.

Appliance Crew focuses on evaluating and repairing existing wine-cellar cooling equipment within our service scope. If the problem appears to involve cellar construction, insulation, vapor barriers, major ductwork, system redesign or another trade outside that scope, we will explain what we found so you can determine the appropriate next step.

What To Expect From Cellar Cooling Service

    • Diagnose First
Evaluate the reported problem and operating conditions before recommending repair work.
    • Temperature & Humidity When Relevant
Cellar conditions may be reviewed when they relate to the reported cooling or humidity problem.
    • Cooling System Components When Relevant
Components and airflow conditions relevant to the reported symptom may be evaluated as part of the diagnosis.
    • Condensate Conditions When Relevant
Drainage or condensate conditions may be evaluated when leaking or moisture is part of the complaint.
    • System Sizing Context When Relevant
If system capacity or cellar conditions appear relevant, Appliance Crew can explain the observed factors without presenting a web-based sizing estimate as a formal heat-load calculation.
    • Price Before Work
The applicable repair price is provided before repair work begins. $69 residential service call if no repair is performed, $129 commercial. Approve the repair and the service call and diagnostic are waived.
    • Qualifying Repairs Are Backed
Qualifying repairs include a 90-day parts and labor warranty.

    Wine Cellar Questions

Asked before every booking, answered here.

Appointment availability depends on location, technician availability and the day's schedule. If cellar temperature is rising, keep unnecessary door openings to a minimum and call 561.933.9955 to check the earliest available appointment.
This page is for service and repair of existing wine-cellar cooling equipment within Appliance Crew's scope. We do not provide wine-cellar construction. If the problem appears to involve construction, insulation, vapor barriers, major system redesign or another trade, we will explain what we observed so you can determine the appropriate next step.
Many long-term wine-storage systems are operated around 55 to 57 degrees F with relative humidity commonly around 60 percent. Appropriate settings can vary by the cellar, equipment and collection, and stable conditions are generally more useful than reacting to one isolated reading. Check the equipment manufacturer guidance for your specific system. You can also use the conditions analyzer on this page.
Not necessarily. Continuous operation can have several possible causes involving heat load, airflow, operating conditions, controls or the cooling equipment itself. If the cellar is also losing temperature, professional diagnosis may be appropriate. The sizing tool on this page provides general context only and does not identify the failed component.
Ice buildup can have several possible causes involving airflow, moisture, controls or refrigeration conditions. Do not chip, scrape or use sharp tools on an evaporator coil. If the manufacturer permits shutting the equipment down for thawing, follow the unit's instructions and arrange service if the icing returns.
If no repair is performed, the service call is $69 for residential visits and $129 for commercial visits. Approve the repair and the service call and diagnostic are waived. The repair price is provided before work begins.
Appliance Crew works with several types of existing wine-cellar cooling equipment within our service scope, including self-contained, ducted and split-system configurations. Send the manufacturer and model when booking so we can help confirm the specific equipment before the visit.
